From the Buttwil airfield in the canton of Aargau, you can choose to take an introductory flight on a ROBINSON R44 for a helicopter test flight.

The ROBINSON R44 is a three-passenger helicopter widely used in the USA by the police, among others.

Our instructor will meet you at Buttwil airfield. After a short theory lesson on helicopter flight, you’ll head for your helicopter. Next comes a technical visit with your instructor to check the sensitive parts of the helicopter. First of all, you need to know that the mechanics and airframe of a helicopter are quite complex. It requires more attention and maintenance than an airplane. You climb aboard and take control of the helicopter.
After receiving take-off clearance, you increase the number of rotor revolutions using the general pitch of your left hand, and lift off. Short 90-degree turn to the right using the control stick and rudder. You push lightly on the stick and begin to fly forward.

We have several types of helicopter on which you can take an introductory flight.

You take off from Schänis airfield for a long 2-hour flight to Graubünden and the Engadine. The Septimer pass, at an altitude of 2310 m, takes your breath away. Then the Bernina Pass at 2328 m altitude. This pass links the Engadine to Valtellina in Italy. In fact, it’s the only pass – the highest in the Swiss Alps – that remains open in winter too. You then continue your flight towards the Maloja pass, which rises to an altitude of 1815 m. This road pass is located in the commune of Bregaglia. Your flight continues to Piz Corvatsch, 3451 m above sea level. It is part of the Bernina chain in the Upper Engadine. Your journey then continues to Piz Bernina, 4048 m above sea level. It is the highest peak in the Bernina chain and in the entire eastern Alps. What’s more, it’s the only peak above 4000 m in the region.
