From the Épagny en Gruyère aerodrome, you will be given an introduction to a CABRI G2 helicopter.

The CABRI G2 is a small two-seat helicopter ideally suited to training.

Your instructor welcomes you to Épagny airfield. After a brief theory lesson on flight and aerodynamics, you’ll join your helicopter on the tarmac. Together with your instructor, you’ll take a technical tour, checking out some of the most important parts of the helicopter for your safety. A helicopter is more complex than any other aircraft, and requires special attention of its own. Then you take your place at the controls of your Cabri G2 helicopter. You are then given take-off clearance by the control tower. You activate the general pitch by gently pulling it upwards, and take off smoothly. Left turn on your axis and the helicopter initiation can begin.

Your instructor sits in the left-hand seat. The control tower gives you take-off clearance. The rotor revs up to 530 rpm. Activate the general step on your left to take off. You are now hovering. Then push the control stick slightly to the left and gently depress the left rudder pedal. You make a 90-degree turn to the left on your vertical axis. Then you push the stick slightly forward to pick up speed. You’re on your way for an introductory flight at the controls of a Cabri G2.

Next comes a technical visit with your instructor to check the sensitive parts of the helicopter. First of all, you need to know that the mechanics and airframe of a helicopter are quite complex. It requires more attention and maintenance than an airplane. You climb aboard and take control of the helicopter.
After receiving take-off clearance, you increase the number of rotor revolutions using the general pitch of your left hand, and lift off. Short 90-degree turn to the right using the control stick and rudder. You push lightly on the stick and begin to fly forward.
