The whole team welcomes you. After spreading the envelope, the pilot activates the fan to blow air into the balloon. The air is still cool because it’s so early. The pilot then activates the burners to heat the air propelled inside the envelope. Slowly the ball rises, imposing and majestic. It’s time to climb aboard by stepping over one side of the gondola. The pilot operates the burners for around 15 seconds until the balloon leaves the ground. The journey over the Three Lakes region begins. Only the hiss of pilot flames from the burners can be heard.
